An Evening with Shelter Music Boston

March 31, 2021 at 7pm

Your support in the past year has been more important than ever.  You have made it possible for Shelter Music Boston to continue delivering music that provides healing, hope, and inspiration to men, women, and children who are experiencing homelessness or struggling with substance misuse, made all the more difficult as a result of the pandemic.

To show our deep appreciation for your investment in SMB, we invite you to join us for an evening of music and community. Together we will enjoy a recent recorded concert - a cello quartet! - that all of our program partners received last fall. You will also have an opportunity to connect in conversation with our musicians and hear about their experiences with SMB. Founder and Artistic Director Julie Leven will also be present to answer questions and highlight how classical music can bring dignity to all.

Sarah Freiberg is a tenured member of the Handel and Haydn Society. Cellist for Blue Hill Bach, the Kennebec Early Music Festival and Newton Baroque, she has also performed with many of the country’s most prestigious early music orchestras, including Boston Baroque, Philharmonia Baroque (San Francisco), Portland Baroque (Oregon), Seattle Baroque, and the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra. Sarah also plays in the duo Tutti Bassi with Colleen McGary-Smith, exploring the rich repertoire of baroque cello sonatas and duos, which anticipates its debut CD, “Have Cellos, Will Travel” later this year on the Centaur label.  As corresponding editor for STRINGS magazine, she has contributed dozens of articles and reviews on a wide rage of subjects. Ms. Freiberg penned editions of long forgotten Guerini cello sonatas for both PRB Productions and Broude Brothers, and recorded both the Guerini and Laurenti cello sonatas for Centaur.
