In December of 2012, Shelter Music Boston was honored to be chosen by Root Cause as the first-ever Classical Music Innovator in the Social Innovation Forum.
Founded in 2003 as a program of Root Cause, the Social Innovation Forum (SIF) provides a unique combination of capacity building and network building to create positive social change in greater Boston. SIF helps innovative nonprofit organizations gain visibility, expand their networks, and build capacity.

On May 9, 2013 Julie Leven gave a presentation about Shelter Music Boston at the Root Cause 10th Annual Social Innovator Showcase. In attendance were more than 350 business, government, and philanthropic leaders from Greater Boston. You can view Julie's compelling talk in the video below.
Social Innovation Forum Winter Reception
At the December 10, 2013 Social Innovation Forum Winter Reception, Julie performed an excerpt from the Bach E major Prelude, then discussed why the music of J.S. Bach is relevant to the problem of homelessness.
