Shelter Music Boston brings the healing power of live classical music to the Metropolitan Wateworks Museum. Come see the magnificent Gilded Age Waterworks building opposite the Chestnut Hill Reservoir and hear the music of the era. Through their works, SMB and the Waterworks share a mission of improving the lives of Boston area residents by providing access to innovative arts and culture experiences.
String quartets of Maddalena Sirmen, Germaine Tailleferre, and Florence Price will be performed. These artists have been featured during our spring 2017 Women Composers Project - a series of shelter concerts dedicated to the work of women composers. One audience member wrote to us after hearing this program, “Thank you for performing the music of women. If no one tells our story, how can we be a part of history?” Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The performance is at 7:00 p.m. The concert will be followed by a dessert reception.
